Design Team of the Year – Winners
We are delighted to be announced as ‘Design Team of the Year’ Winners at the British Engineering Excellence Awards (BEEAs) for our work on Project reDRESS.
We are delighted to be announced as ‘Design Team of the Year’ Winners at the British Engineering Excellence Awards (BEEAs) for our work on Project reDRESS.
We are excited to announce that our collaborative project, ReDRESS, has been shortlisted for two prestigious British awards.
Megan Jenkinson, one of our Research Physicists, has recently been elected as the Vice-Chair of the IEEE UFFC Industrial Engagement Committee.
Following a rigorous design process during 2020, we have just launched a new range of environmentally friendlier packaging for our transducer range.
A project to develop and manufacture radiation resilient ultrasonic sensors (reDRESS) has been completed with high praise from the project’s funding body.
Due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Coronavirus, we wanted to keep you up-to-date with what’s happening at Precision Acoustics at the moment.
Our new factory extension was opened on 14th Nov by company founder, Terri Gill, and was attended by clients and suppliers from across the country.
Despite not winning, we were recently commended in all of the awards we were shortlisted for; and, the team are hungry for more.
We are pleased to announce that we have addressed a growing industry need for faster delivery of our transducer range with a new range of short lead-time transducers.
We are proud to announce that we have been nominated for three prestigious business awards, both locally and nationally.
Tom has just had a paper published – Effect of temperature on the pulse-echo performance of ultrasonic transducers fabricated with PVDF film
We recently sponsored a competition at Strathclyde University encouraging second-year lab students to combine fun with a bit of ingenuity.
Listen to the latest That Engineering Chat podcast with our MD, Gary Livingstone – covering topics such as the pandemic, AI, and how changes in manufacturing will affect the supply chain.

We are delighted to announce that our Hydrophone Measurement course has been CPD approved by IPEM.
Welcome to the newest members of the Precision Acoustics team, Marina & William
In this tutorial, Andrew describes the physics of reflection and transmission phenomena and how this relates to forming an ultrasound image.
Our one-day course aims to give basic competence in selecting and using hydrophones for making pressure measurements in the MHz frequency range.
Our Principal Research Physicist, Andrew Hurrell, has created a new tutorial – Ultrasonic Nonlinear Propagation.
We can now characterise moderate to low loss materials from 200 kHz to 13 MHz. For higher loss materials, the maximum frequency of measurement could be reduced due to dynamic range limitations.
We have recently launched a new high performance composite material designed for transducer backings operating under elevated hydrostatic pressures at 200 kHz and above – TBW650.
Our Principal Research Physicist, Andrew Hurrell, has co-written a paper with colleagues from Oxford Brookes, Greenwich and Brunel Universities.
