Opening young minds the wonders of acoustics
Three members of staff recently visited Sunninghill Preparatory School in Dorchester, as part of the school’s Science Week.
Please note, we will closed for the Christmas and New Year holidays from 19th December until 2nd January.

We are delighted to announce that our Hydrophone Measurement course has been CPD approved by IPEM.
Welcome to the newest members of the Precision Acoustics team, Marina & William
In this tutorial, Andrew describes the physics of reflection and transmission phenomena and how this relates to forming an ultrasound image.
Our one-day course aims to give basic competence in selecting and using hydrophones for making pressure measurements in the MHz frequency range.
Our Principal Research Physicist, Andrew Hurrell, has created a new tutorial – Ultrasonic Nonlinear Propagation.
We can now characterise moderate to low loss materials from 200 kHz to 13 MHz. For higher loss materials, the maximum frequency of measurement could be reduced due to dynamic range limitations.
We have recently launched a new high performance composite material designed for transducer backings operating under elevated hydrostatic pressures at 200 kHz and above – TBW650.
Our Principal Research Physicist, Andrew Hurrell, has co-written a paper with colleagues from Oxford Brookes, Greenwich and Brunel Universities.
If you’ve ever been through a corporate rebrand, you’ll know that the design stage is just the beginning. You soon realise how many things around the office and factory need updating with your new logo and how many branded items are no longer fit for purpose.
We recently headed all the way over to California, USA for the International Symposium on Biomolecular Ultrasound & Sonogenetics (ISBUS).
Precision Acoustics recognised for our contribution to the UK’s manufacturing industry after scooping the Innovation category award at the prestigious Manufacturer’s Organisation’s Make UK regional dinner.
Our very own Principal Research Physicist, Andrew Hurrell, has recently co-written two papers that have now been published.
The 2022 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium will be held from October 10th – 13th at the Venice Convention Centre in Venice, Italy.
Brigham Young University (BYU) has created an underwater acoustics laboratory at their premises using our Apltile SF5048 is an anechoic tile.
The Thomas Hardye School visited Precision Acoustics and had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the life cycle of a product in our company.
A dynamic website to help the science and engineering industry discover more about acoustic and ultrasound measurement products and services has been launched.
