Production Manager Adam Pounder has been awarded the prestigious Prince 2 certificate in Project Management this month.
Adam, who is currently studying for an MSc in Project Management at Southampton Solent University has spent the past five months working towards the impressive award and was “over the moon” to be one of four in a class of 13 to pass.
The highly-regarded Prince 2, an acronym for PRojects IN Controlled Environments, is an accredited qualification recognised by governments in the UK and across Europe as a de-facto process-based method for effective project management in the workplace.
Adam, who originally studied Physics at university, was encouraged and sponsored by MD Gary Livingstone to further his education in business and is already seeing the benefits of his new knowledge in the workplace. He said:
“I did my original Bachelors degree in Physics but always wanted to do a Masters and since being at Precision Acoustics Gary has encouraged me to go down the business route so my masters is in Project Management, which I’m really enjoying, and the Prince 2 certificate is an extension of that.
“I was over the moon to pass since only a few of us did on the course and it’s already been really useful in the workplace.
“We do a lot of projects like MHS, Rolls Royce… and they all have to be managed in-house which is no mean feat.
“Having this qualification and knowledge should lead to better success in managing a project – looking at the cost, time scales, making sure it’s best for business at all times.
“Sometimes when you analyse projects in the early stages you need to make sure it’s going to be successful or if it needs adjustment to make sure it goes ahead. It’s great to have that extra knowledge and to make the company more efficient in time, money and effectiveness.”
Managing Director Gary Livingstone added:
“We spend a lot of time at work, so it’s important to enjoy it.
“My belief is that challenge and the application of knowledge is the most exciting way to improve productivity and develop every person.
“As a company, personal education and development is actively encouraged at every level, from apprenticeships to sponsoring PhD’s.”
